ACORN and Kansas NEA Join Forces
ACORN and NEA are joining forces to push incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and the new Democratic majority in Congress to fulfill the economic elements of their 100-Hour legislative agenda.
The two groups announced the formation of a new campaign in Kansas, Change America Now (CAN), to advocate such economic issues as raising the federal minimum wage and to cut interest rates on student loans in half.
Representatives from ACORN and the NEA President Blake West called upon Congresswoman-elect Nancy Boyda to support Rep. Pelosi 's agenda Tuesday.
CAN is a national campaign of nearly 40 organizations in 31 states focusing on the convincing Congressional leaders to vote on key issues in the first 100 legislative hours of of the 110th Congress, which starts on January 3rd.
Other issues on CAN 's agenda is eliminating the prohibtion on Medi care negotiating with drug companies for lower prices, repealing tax breaks for big oil, and funding alternative energy.
